The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF ) awarded $1000 Scholarships to ten Long Island high school seniors. The honored students attended high schools Wading River, Port Jefferson Station, Greenlawn, Farmingville, Rocky Point, Plainview, Freeport, Huntington, Center Moriches, Great Neck, and Bay Shore.

The awarded students were those planning to major in music, music education, and the performing arts after graduation, offering more support to the future generation of the arts. As well as being awarded, three honored students performed during the awards ceremony, with William Maclntosh and DeAndre Simmons performing violin, and a vocal performance by Alyssa Wong.
Achieving a scholarship from LIMEHOF is no easy feat, as out of all the thousands of students that submit applications a year, only a small few are awarded. The applications are judged by the LIMOF’s education committee, and require scholastic documents, an essay, and letter of recommendation. Students from schools in Queens and Brooklyn are eligible to apply in addition to those from Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
Founded in 2004, The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is an organization that believes in conserving Long Island’s musical heritage, and promoting music education for the younger generations. The organization has inducted more than one hundred musicians and music industry executives, and continues to offer educational programs and scholarships for youths, having opened their first hall of fame in Stony Brook in 2022.

One of the scholarships granted was the Pat DeRosa memorial scholarship, awarded in memory of LIMEHOF inductee Pat DeRosa. Born in Brooklyn and raised in South Huntington, Pat DeRosa performed for many years, including the WWII Air Force Band. He taught music until 1978, so the memorial scholarship is there to continue his legacy of supporting high school senior musicians.
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is continuing to honor, and award Long Island high school students for their achievements and goals in music, prompting students to pursue a future in music, and encouraging our future generations.
