Acclaimed singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, A.J. Croce has announced the return of his celebrated Croce Plays Croce tour, a heartfelt tribute to the music of his late father, Jim Croce.
The tour will include two New York stops this fall—Town Hall in New York City on October 24 and The Bardavon in Poughkeepsie on October 25—as part of a national run.

Beginning this September, the Croce Plays Croce tour will feature an expanded setlist with more deeper cuts from Jim Croce’s catalog, fan favorites like “Time in a Bottle,” “Operator,” and “I Got a Name,” as well as selections from A.J. Croce’s critically acclaimed new album, Heart of the Eternal.
The tour announcement arrives alongside the release of the official music video for A.J. Croce’s new single, “Turned Around.”
The video features A.J. and his band performing the tune in a studio, giving us a look at some of the magic we can expect onstage during his upcoming tour.
GLIDE
Speaking about the upcoming tour, A.J. Croce said, “This tour is more than a tribute to my father and more than a showcase of my own music— it’s the meeting of my roots and a declaration of my individual artistry. This is a journey through soul and sound.”
“Turned Around,” one of the tracks on Heart of the Eternal, began as a songwriting exercise, according to Croce. He set out to “make sense out of nonsense,” building each verse around a string of oxymorons to craft a surreal, yet cohesive narrative. When existing expressions didn’t fit, he created his own—drawing inspiration from the playful inventiveness of writers like Ogden Nash and Roger Miller.
Croce’s latest album, Heart of the Eternal, produced by Shooter Jennings (Brandi Carlile, Tanya Tucker), blends piano-driven rock, psychedelic soul, and classic songwriting into a genre-defying collection. Recorded at Los Angeles’ legendary Sunset Sound, the album features guest collaborations with Margo Price and John Oates.
It debuted in the Top 20 on Billboard’s Americana/Folk Albums chart and the Top 40 on the Current Rock Albums chart, earning praise from outlets like American Songwriter and Forbes, which called it “a multifaceted examination of the human experience.”
Heart of the Eternal highlights Croce’s versatile musicianship and effortless genre-blending, from fuzzed-out rock and Latin-tinged jazz-pop to introspective, emotionally charged songwriting. Notable tracks include “Reunion,” co-written with John Oates, and “The Finest Line,” a countrypolitan-style duet with Margo Price that explores themes of mortality and the soul’s journey beyond. The album also features contributions from legendary studio musicians known for their work with icons like Van Morrison and Dr. John.
Clever and catchy songwriting that is soulful and funky with bright background harmonies and a buoyant groove.
GLIDE
After losing his father at just two years old, A.J. Croce faced numerous challenges, including a complete loss of eyesight from ages four to ten. During this difficult time, the piano became his refuge, inspired by blind pianists like Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder. By 18, Croce was already a piano virtuoso, performing alongside legends such as B.B. King. Over the years, he has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists across genres, including Willie Nelson, Leon Russell, Allen Toussaint, Neville Brothers, Bela Fleck, and Ry Cooder.
Throughout his career, A.J. has crafted a distinctive catalog that blends blues, soul, rock ’n’ roll, and roots music, working with some of the most esteemed producers in music history—like Jack Clement (Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley), Tony Berg (Fiona Apple, Bob Dylan), and Greg Cohen (Tom Waits, John Zorn).
Music has given me everything: it’s taught me patience and compassion and empathy; it was my refuge and my religion when I lost my sight as a kid. When I look back at the music that’s inspired me the most, it’s the music that has real depth and soul to it, whether that’s Little Richard or Otis Redding and Hank Williams or Fiona Apple. Anything that makes me feel is meaningful to me, and I hope that everyone can find that same connection with all of these songs.
