The Schenectady staple Jazz on Jay concert series is right around the corner, with this year’s lineup promising a summer of unforgettable performances for jazz enthusiasts.

The Jazz on Jay concert series is held every Thursday beginning June 5 through August 28, filling the heart of downtown Schenectady with the smooth sounds of jazz. This cherished summer tradition is now entering its third decade, and this year’s presentation showcases a stronger lineup than ever with a lively blend of modern, acoustic fusion and classic jazz and performances from some of the region’s richest talents.
All Jazz on Jay performances are free midday concerts, shows playing from 12 to 1:30 p.m. and held in the recently reinvigorated Jay Square, across from City Hall.

Jazz on Jay 2025 opens with the Dylan Canterbury Quintet, a jazz ensemble led by trumpeter, composer and jazz ensemble director at SUNY Schenectady, Dylan Canterbury. Other performances include Steve Horowitz Quartet, Art D’echo Trio and Linda Brown Jazz Project. The series comes to a close with a performance from Chuck Lamb, pianist, composer and longtime member of the Brubeck Brothers Quartet, featuring Ria Curley.
“Jazz on Jay has enriched Schenectady’s cultural landscape for over 30 years, presenting exceptional jazz concerts on Jay Street, and now in our new home at Jay Square,” said Jazz on Jay Committee Chair Lanaea Bailey. “Our concerts offer a relaxed environment, where all are welcome to pull up a lawn chair or blanket, unwind, and tune in to the multitude of talent provided by the Capital Region and beyond.”
