The Chautauqua Institution announced past board member, Kyle Keogh as the new Interim Chief Executive of the institution. Starting June 1, Keogh will step into the role of Chief Executive for the 2025 season.
Stepping into the role as Interim Chautauqua Institution Chief Executive, Keogh comes from a background in strategy, finance and technology. He has past experience in directing companies like Google and IBM. Keogh considers Chautauqua home, visiting the institution everyday since he was five and having past experience as a trustee on the board from 2015 to 2023.
Candace Maxwell, board chair for Chautauqua Institution said Keogh’s past experience will be invaluable while the board finds Chautauqua’s next President.
“I am confident that Kyle will do an excellent job building on our strong foundation and enhancing Chautauqua’s opportunities to serve its mission and community,” Maxwell said.
This appointment follows Michael E. Hill’s previous plans to depart from Chautauqua on May 31. Hill served at the 18th president of the institution for over eight years. During his time, Hill curated successful summer programs, serving 100,000 people each year, and fundraising more that $145 million for the institution. Hill will leave Chautauqua Institution for a position as President at Randolph-Macon College.
Chautauqua Institution has delivered the exploration of the arts and the enrichment of life for over 150 years with programs in religion, social issues, music and art. The nine-week season hosts more than 100,000 attendees with each week based around a different topic. The season runs from June 21 through August 24.
