Pierce the Veil made history on their “I Can’t Hear You” world tour with a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden, delivering a night packed with nostalgia, cultural pride, and cathartic energy. Kicking things off were openers Daisy Grenade and Sleeping with Sirens. Brooklyn-raised pop-punk duo Daisy Grenade set the tone with a fierce set that was both playful and full of angst with their songs “So Happy”, “Sick in the City”, and a cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste”.

Sleeping with Sirens followed and cranked the energy up to a whole different level with frontman Kellin Quinn’s incredible vocals going across MSG as the crowd screamed along to every word of their hits like “Leave It All Behind”, “Go Go Go”, and “If You Can’t Hang”. Then, it was time for what all of the fans came for.

As the lights dimmed, Vicente Fernández’s “El Rey” rang throughout the arena and the crowd roared in excitement and sang along with the legendary Mexican song, paying a powerful and beautiful homage to the band’s Mexican roots. After the final trumpet blared, the band emerged as the curtains fell and went straight into “Death of an Executioner” and instantly sent the arena into a frenzy.

Opening with “El Rey” is something deeper than what it seems, as it is a cultural statement and celebration on one of the world’s most famous stages. Mexican flags were waving throughout the arena and fans embraced the pride embedded in that opening song.

In support of the recent deluxe release of their 2023 album, The Jaws of Life, the Californian band is on a monumental run spanning 46 dates across North America, Europe, and Latin America. The San Diego-based band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Vic Fuentes, Jaime Preciado on bass, Tony Perry on lead guitar, and touring drummer Loniel Robinson.

Pierce the Veil performed a tightly curated set that mixed in newer songs and throwback anthems. Tracks like “Bulls in the Bronx”, “Circles”, and “Bulletproof Love” had everyone jumping. The energy was relentless as the strobes flashed different colors and fog filled the space. Towards the end of the show, Fuentes paused to soak it all in, admitting they never thought they’d be playing at the Garden and made sure to acknowledge every section of the venue, connecting with every corner.

One of the most beautiful moments came during their encore, when Fuentes and the rest of the band performed “Hold On Till May”. Thousands of phone lights shined around the arena and Fuentes looked out and said, “You guys look so fucking beautiful tonight”, his voice cracking with emotion.

Pierce the Veil closed the night with their fan favorite, “King for a Day”, joined by Sleeping with Sirens’ Kellin Quinn for an explosive and incredible performance. Crowd surfers floated overhead, arms waved in the air, and the crowd never rested. As fans poured into the Spring streets of NYC, Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” echoed through the venue, and the party kept going, with fans dancing in the hallways still buzzing about this unforgettable night.
