Mihali’s ‘Before the Dream’ Is a Love Letter to Presence and Purpose

Vermont-based singer-songwriter Mihali has released his third solo effort, a record titled Before The Dream.

The 14-track record was produced predominantly by Moon Taxi guitarist/producer Spencer Thomson, with single tracks produced by Iya Terra’s Nathan Feinstein (“Sunshine”) and DENM (“We Are”), and mastered by Steve Fallone and Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound, NJ.

Mihali Before the Dream

With his past records known for their fantastic selections of featured artists, Before The Dream is no different with Mihali connecting with Moon Taxi, Little Stranger, Lily Fangz, Tropidelic, G. Love, Brett Dennen, Andy Frasco, Seven Suns and Satsang.

The record opens up with “Wise Man,” a heartfelt song about a wise man spreading the word of love and support. The lyrics delve into sharing and supporting others, and how this support circles back to where it originally came from. Mihali shares, “A wise man said to me / Give all your love for free / And what you’re given in return / Is more than you can earn.”

Following this comes “King of the Low” featuring Moon Taxi, and “We Are” featuring Little Stranger. Altogether, they capture a carefree vibe with summer grooves to celebrate being present and allowing yourself to let go.

Afterward comes a notable “Cool Runnin'” featuring Tropidelic and Lily Fangz. The track has an infectious chorus that entrances you into a push and pull of confusion and clarity.

Slightly later in the album, the track “Going Home” reflects deeply on his return to his roots. Grounded in his strong bond with NYC, the song encapsulates the tension between history and modernity.

Before the Dream is a journey of joy shaped by Mihali’s creative vision and signature sound, where each track is introduced with varying emotions, working together to develop an uplifting narrative about finding peace.
