Rochester indie band Chaz & The Dazzlers have released their new album, Upside Down, now available to stream on all platforms.

Chaz & The Dazzlers features Chaz Hearne, Susanna Rose, Reilly Taylor-Cook, Nick Lord and Cam Hebda, who have created an album for all; but especially for the next generation. Upside Down explores the bittersweet truth of parenting – that you raise your kids to leave you one day. Traversing through different topics, such as climate change and quieter moments in the world, Upside Down covers the slow escalation of life and the smaller, intimate moments worth cherishing.
Key highlights of the album include the upbeat opening track “Roll,” the perfect new addition to any summer playlist. With vocals from the entire band, “Roll” sets the foundational layer of the album, beginning with life’s roots. Following songs, like “Sail,” discuss the joy of parenting and cherishing the gift of life, bringing back the album’s central meaning with lyrics, “We teach our kids/To move away.” The next track, “Garlic Girl,” a funky and groovy track, brings the gift of others in life to the album.
“Alarm,” with an array of numerous instruments mimicking an alarm sound, calls for societal action, with lyrics like “Plant trees, eat your beans/Kill those damn pipelines/Change these laws/Go now go now/Scream, call, write them all/Hold your pissed off signs/Enough is enough/Sound the alarm.”

The album and the band’s ability to captivate listeners and take them through the circle of life through music brings innate joy and comfort. To discuss a topic that is filled with uncertainty and worry with grace, excitement, action and stability is only a fraction of the band’s creative capabilities. Upside Down is the perfect addition to this summer’s beach days and barbecues spent with the family.
