Sunday (1994) delivered a stunning performance on the Bowery Ballroom’s stage as a part of their headlining debut tour on April 5.

Part pop, part shoegaze, and part sonic velvet, Sunday (1994) formally introduced themselves to the music scene with their self-titled EP in May of 2024. Since gaining impressive traction- “Tired Boy” off of the EP has just under 3.5 million streams on Spotify as of writing- the group has worked tirelessly to hone their performance and develop their signature sound… both efforts that have clearly paid off.
Originally announced in the final days of January, the group’s debut headlining tour has brought them across the United States with the U.K. and beyond soon to follow… including a very special evening spent in Manhattan’s own Bowery Ballroom.

Accompanying Sunday (1994) for the evening was the ever-talented Alisa Xayalith. Most widely recognized for her membership in New Zealand band The Naked and Famous, Xayalith’s embarkment into solo ventures could not shine more brightly as she performed several tracks off of debut latest album released this past April.

Opening with the melancholic and oceanic “Blonde,” Sunday (1994) treated the audience to practically the entirety of their releases so far in addition to exciting samplings of their latest album releasing on Friday, May 9. As explained by lead singer Paige Turner, each track off of their newest project connects to a track from the previous work- whether that entails a prequel, a sequel, or a sonic sibling.

Another memorable moment includes the evening’s lyric sign, as each show of the tour thus far has seen a different picket sign with a set of lyrics pasted across the front involved in the band’s performance that night- the Bowery in particular being gifted a picket in reference to their track “Devotion.”

While Sunday (1994)’s evening spent in New York City has since passed, their tour is ongoing through June as they wind through the U.K, Europe, and land back in the states for a date in L.A.
