American Composers Orchestra Announces Spring 2025 EarShot Reading, New BMI Foundation Partnership

The American Composers Orchestra (ACO) has announced their Spring 2025 EarShot Readings at the Manhattan School of Music on June 5 and 6, along with a new partnership with BMI Foundation.

The Spring 2025 EarShot Readings will be conducted by Rei Hotoda and feature selected composers Lavell Blackwell (“Toccata for Orchestra”), Arjan Singh Dogra (“Live Salmon”), Marie Douglas (“The People Could Fly”), Shawn Johnson (“The Cardinal Takes Flight”), Cheng Jin Koh (“Midnight Visions”) and Grace Ann Lee (“In Crystallized Time”) and New York City mentors Vijay Iyer, Nkeiru Okoye and Curtis Stewart

Additionally, ACO has announced a four-year partnership with BMI Foundation, Inc., aimed to work with ACO and International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE) to present works receiving honors at the BMI Composer Awards. Within this partnership, one chamber and orchestral work will be performed in an ICE concert and an ACO EarShot reading respectively, reaching a large, diverse audience of new listeners.

EarShot is the first ongoing, systematic program creating relationships between composers and orchestras on the national level. Developed by ACO, EarShot provides a vibrant future for new American orchestral music and composers. EarShot alumni have won every composition award, such as the Pulitzer, GRAMMY, Grawemeyer, American Academy of Arts & Letters and Rome Prizes. 

Established in 1977, ACO dedicates itself towards creation, celebration, performance and promotion of orchestral music by American composers. With over 40 years of commitment towards artistry, creativity, community and equity, ACO has expanded into an international institution that develops the careers of living composers and provides a direct pipeline to partnerships and collaborations domestically.
