Live music is blooming all around Rochester this April. Local, national and internationally-renowned, all varieties of artists will be coloring this town throughout the month, so make sure you get out and see some shows.
April 3: Zach Keim @ Bug Jar
Pittsburgh singer-songwriter Zach Keim swings through “Your Bar on Earth” bringing his soulful folk meets indie-rock sounds hot on the tails of his new album, Battery Lane. The bill is rounded out by not one, not two, but three fantastic local artists, Alex Northrup and the Darlingtones, Jimso Slim, and Beef Gordon.
Tickets are $10 and the music will get started around 9pm.

April 5: Flower City Thaw @ Various Venues
Speaking of great local artists, on Friday, April 5 you have a chance to see thirteen great bands at six different venues in Rochester’s East End for one low price. Ranging from folk, to early jazz to psychedelic rock, it’ll be a nice variety of sounds in an interesting variety of spaces with a lot of Rochester out on display. Tickets are $20 and the first sets will get going at 5p.
April 7: Jenny Scheinman @ Bop Shop Records
Bop Shop Records is consistently showcasing some of the most eclectic, exciting and interesting music in town and this might be their best booking yet. Violinist Jenny Scheinmann brings her latest band featuring Carmen Staaf on piano, Keith Ganz on guitar, Tony Scherr on bass, and Kenny Wollesen on drums to present her latest project, All Species Parade. The talent will be oozing through the record stacks. Don’t miss out on the chance to see some of the best in jazz team up in a most intimate space.
Tickets are $30 and show starts at 8p.
April 18: Joan Osborne @ Hart Theater
In advance of her new album, Dylanology Live, Joan Osborne will be bringing her interpretations of Bob Dylan classics to the JCC’s Hart Theater. She’s a highly accomplished songwriter herself, and sometimes it takes one to reinterpret some of the greatest songs of all time. With his songs remaining as relevant and present as ever, it’ll be a great time to hear them with some fresh shine.
Tickets start at $55 and the show starts at 7p.
April 24: The Niche @ Three Heads Brewing
The Niche, a classic Rochester jam band, is reuniting, and joining with their old friend, guitarist Rob Compa, whose band Dopapod recently called it quits and who also recently joined Boston-based Neighbor, who are starting to make some big noise on the scene. All that said, sparks are going to be flying and the excitement level should be high both on and off the stage when they take the show on the road for a short tour of the Northeast kicking off right here in Rochester.
