With neo-soul influence and vocality, “Free” tells the story of a journey into self confidence and freedom as a writer and performer. With Star’s ability to command a full band, the singer notes of putting others before herself in the past, carrying the listener through melodic mountains and valley: “I’ve been working overtime / Making everyone else but me feel so prioritized / When I have every night to be the center of my own life / Oh I wonder what it would be like if I took my own light / and I shined it on me.”

To celebrate the single, the singer will be taking stage at The Sultan Room on Tuesday, March 18, headlining the performance with openers Kamal Morales and his ten-piece band and Alita Moses, who has recently wrapped up touring alongside Jacob Collier. For an amazing night of music, the once-in-a-lifetime performance is one not to miss.
