Harlem’s Sugarhill Ddot and Chicago’s STAR BANDZ come together for their “Energy” music video, from Sugarhill Ddot’s 2 Sides of the Story Deluxe album.

After the duo’s widely popular hit, “My Baby,” the teenage rappers joined together for the upbeat, drill-inflected “Energy.” The single is a feel-good track lifted with drums, deep bass, bright tones and a hummable melody by the duo. With lyrics of living carefree, bringing the party wherever they go and lifting each other up, the single is destined as a summer song.
The music video delivers a house party surrounded by friends, with Sugarhill Ddot and STAR BANDZ arriving in high-fashion, though the energy of the party is low key and familiar as people dance and play cards. The duo has made Complex’s list of “The 13 Best Teenaged Rappers Right Now,” sharing their talents to the up and coming rap world.

“Energy” comes from the expanded edition of Sugarhill Ddot’s debut album, 2 Sides of the Story, in December 2024. New tracks, like “Energy” and “Like This (Remix),” feature alongside established favorites like “My Baby,” which has racked up more than 22 million views on the music video.
Sugarhill Ddot has cut through the busy crowd of New York hip-hop as one of the youngest sensations on the global track. His debut album shows the rapper’s range and reminds listeners to view him in full. Signing to Priority Records label at just 13 years old, he has received critical acclaim from XXL, Complex, Billboard, V Magazine and more.

STAR BANDZ is a 16 year old rapper making her breakthrough debut with her release, “Yea Yea,” gaining 1.4 million views on YouTube. The drill rapper with singles like “Bigger Better Badder,” “Too Many Options” and “Cappin for the Look” has led her amassing over 555,000 followers on Instagram.
