Parmalee’s “Fell In Love With A Cowgirl” Tour Takes Buffalo

Fresh off of notching their fifth #1 single, Parmalee brought their “Fell In Love With A Cowgirl” tour to Buffalo, when they stopped at Town Ballroom on March 1st.

The pop-country band, consisting of brothers Matt and Scott Thomas, their cousin Barry Knox, and life-long friend McSwain; put their mouthwatering melodies on display.  They brought along their mentee and collaborator, Avery Anna, and a fresh face in Dylan Davidson.

The chemistry amongst the guys was exactly what you’d expect from a family-formed band that has been in the game for over a decade.  The performance was very personable, between the eye contact, gestures and reaching out to touch the hands of audience members.  The bright colors of lights and accompanying videos made for “good vibes.

The “Carolina” band played some of their more popular hits, gaining a lot of crowd participation throughout the night.  With early songs like “Close Your Eyes” and “Already Callin’ You Mine,” to some more recently successful songs like “Girl In Mine” and “Cowgirl,” fans seemed to know all the words.  To keep the energy at a high, they also performed a cover of Usher’s “Yeah.”  Bassist Barry shined as he nailed the rap verse in the song originally performed by Ludacris.

Avery Anna was invited back on stage to perform her song “Lose You Again,” that features Parmalee.  They also performed a cover of Sabrina Carpenter’s “Taste.”

It wasn’t long after she took the stage for her set, when a fan shouted out “Happy Birthday!” to Avery Anna.  Turns out it was the singer/songwriter’s 21st birthday bash that would also be celebrated in Buffalo.  Fans were treated to her honest and pure tone.

Even though she had only turned 21 on the day of the show, she was already a polished songwriter and performer.  Her lyrics are honest and discuss some of the vulnerabilities that young women face, as they navigate life, love or simply being “blonde.”  With songs like “Vanilla,” “Break Up Over Breakfast,” and “Mr. Predictable,” she touches on the subjects of relationships and cheating, as well as dealing with pressures to take the next step with the opposite sexy (when they might not be ready).

Avery Anna credited opener Dylan Davidson, who was only performing his sixth live show of his career.  She said ‘In a few years I’ll be playing my bajillionth show, and you’ll be playing sold out stadiums.  And I’ll be opening for you.”

Davidson played an acoustic set, putting his raspy and rumbly voice on display.  The Eastern Tennessee native had some obvious influences from Country, Americana and Southern Appalachian sounds.

Parmalee’s tour continues on March 7th and 8th in Ormond Beach and Fort Myers, Florida.  They will return to New York State in a few short months, as they will be supporting Billy Currington at Beak and Skiff in Lafayette on May 30th.   They will also be performing at the Clinton County Fair in Plattsburgh on July 11th and the Oswego Harborfest 2025 on July 25th.
