Jess Yaffa, a rising artist in the New York City music scene, releases her newest ballad, “In the Key of Chaos,” on February 28.
Written mid-air on a flight, the song transforms hopeless longing and sadness into an uplifting story. Yaffa shares it emerged as “a stream of consciousness” written while experiencing anxiety for multiple reasons. It ultimately became a way for her to calm down and connect with her emotions.
Following her previous single, “Just for One Night,” this new release will continue her signature blend of energy and storytelling. “Just for One Night” received praise from The Big Takeover for capturing “pop contagion in rock’s more authentic and energetic form.” As she prepares for the upcoming release, she remains committed to delivering the high powered intensity that defines her sound.
With her captivating stage presence and rebellious energy, Yaffa is making a name for herself in the pop-rock scene. Her performances pack a punch, blending powerful vocals with mesmerizing melodies, while her songwriting pulls straight from real, personal experiences. “Our real experiences and stories are more powerful than anything that could be made up,” she says. “My role is to share them so we can hear, feel, and relate.”
For “In The Key of Chaos,” Yaffa collaborated with Grammy-winning producer Scott Jacoby. Jacoby is well known for working with Coldplay, John Legend, and Vampire Weekend. The collaboration promises to blend authentic emotions and energetic harmonies while staying true to Yaffa’s unique style.
The single arrives as Yaffa prepares for her debut album, Thoughts That Keep Me Up at Night, out April 4. She’ll also be performing live at Pete’s Candy Store in Brooklyn on March 8, a cherished venue known for its intimate atmosphere and live performances. The show is free, with Yaffa’s set starting at 9:30 PM.
