In the new year, EFW will hold its very first Solo Piano Festival, with weekly performances scheduled on every Saturday in March 2025. The EFW Solo Piano Festival will begin with acclaimed jazz pianist Dave Burrell on March 1, a trailblazer in the free jazz scene since the 60s.

Shows following Burrell’s performance will include GRAMMY award-winning pianist Kris Davis on March 8; extraordinary keyboardist Alexis Marcelo on March 15; incredibly talented Japanese pianist Eri Yamamoto on March 22; and Rasta polymath Jamie Saft on March 29. These performances will be held at 8 p.m. at St. Andrew & St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Beacon.

In addition to the Solo Piano Festival, six scheduled performances will be held by EFW for the remainder of the 2025 season. These performances will include saxophonist Larry Ochs, bassist Joe Morris and drummer/percussionist Michael Wimberly on May 3; bassist Brandon Lopez, multi-instrumentalists Ikue Mori and Zeena Parkins on June 21; “glowingly new—2024 vintage” trio Squanderers, featuring multi-instrumentalist and producer Kramer and guitarists Wendy Eisenberg and David Grubbs on July 19; the Darius Jones Trio, featuring alto saxophonist Darius Jones, bassist Christ Lightcap and drummer Gerald Cleaver on Sept. 20; percussionist and composer Bobby Previte with an ensemble on Oct. 18; and Da Odd Couple, featuring legendary DJs Rob Swift and Mista Sinista on Dec. 13. These performances will begin at 8 p.m. and will take place at the VBI Theatre of Cunneen-Hackett Arts Center in Poughkeepsie.
