A Look Ahead At Buffalo AKG’s 2025 Live Jazz Series

Take a peek at what the Buffalo AKG Art Museum’s 2025 Art of Jazz Series lineup has to offer for the year ahead.

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum is one of the oldest museums dedicated to modern and contemporary works, and dates as the sixth-oldest public art institution in the United States after its founding in 1862.

Beyond its mission to display and appreciate its expansive collection of pieces, the Buffalo AKG has dedicated itself to hosting a variety of events meant to uplift and showcase artists from near and afar. Through a large variety of educational events and at-home opportunities, The Buffalo AKG Art Museum connects creatives with the community and vice versa- a prime example being their Art of Jazz Series.

Now with over two decades of shows under their belt, the Art of Jazz series has grown into one of North America’s premier jazz events. Complete with pre-concert music, brunch, and the best of the best in jazz performance, Art of Jazz presents the Buffalo public with musical presentations by some of the most talented artists, composers, and arrangers in jazz music.

With the turn of the new year ahead, Buffalo AKG has announced their 2025 lineup- take a look at four performances that are not to be missed.

Known for her sophisticated vocal style and masterful piano skills, Dena DeRose will perform on February 2. With an unparalleled ability to captivate an audience, DeRose will perform her elegant interpretations of the Great American Songbook alongside some original compositions of her own.

Renowned pianist Joe Alterman will bring the soulful spirit of Les McCann to life in his tribute performance on March 9. Honoring one of jazz’s most beloved icons, Alterman will deliver groove, swing, and heartfelt emotion while capturing the timeless charm of McCann’s work.

Leading a dynamic trio in a centennial concert will be Jeff Hamilton on April 13. Alongside his musical partners, Hamilton will deliver an unforgettable night of live music in remembrance of one of jazz’s most revered pianists Oscar Peterson, a testament to Peterson’s living influence on jazz and beyond.

One of the most exciting figures of the modern jazz scene, the Emmet Cohen trio led by the pianist himself will grace Buffalo AKG’s stage on May 18. Blending impressive technical skill with an infectious energy, Cohen’s performance will captivate Buffalo just as it has worldwide.

Tickets for each of these shows are available now, with general admission to one concert priced at $45. A season subscription in addition to other attendance opportunities are also available.
