Mountain Jam has announced the lineup for their 2025 run after a six-year hiatus, including a variety of local New York acts, as well as Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, moe., Karina Rykman, Mikaela Davis, and frequent Mountain Jam headliner, Michael Franti and Spearhead.
A three day music celebration, the 2025 Mountain Jam Festival is an exciting triumph for those in the Catskills and beyond. With a reputation of excellence in the live music scene across the Northeast, Mountain Jam’s unique balance of an intimate performance experience played by some of the scene’s biggest names has fostered a tight-knit, vibrant community over the years.
As most things in the music scene did in 2020, Mountain Jam was forced to come to a halt in the face of the Covid-19 Pandemic. With the future of the festival unclear, fans from near and far were left waiting and hoping- that is, until an unexpected 25-second video posted to Mountain Jam’s social media pages and official website appeared in late October.
Triumphantly declaring Mountain Jam as “Alive in ‘25,” the video announces that the 2025 Festival will be held from June 20-22, alongside a notable venue change.
Now set within the picturesque views of the Belleayre Ski Mountain in Highmount, the Mountain Jam Festival has returned once more to the mountain peaks after shifting gears to celebrate the iconic Woodstock Festival’s 50th anniversary on its original stomping grounds at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in 2019.
“Mountain Jam has continuously evolved over the past 20 years, growing from a small, one-day gathering to a multi-day celebration of music and community. We’re excited to return to a mountain setting, this time on a smaller mountain footprint to ensure a better, more intimate experience for fans.”
– Gary Chetkof, founder of Mountain Jam
The return of Mountain Jam also marks the return of the festival’s original production team, a partnership between Mountain Jam’s original creator Gary Chetkof and the award-winning team of Radio Woodstock, the Woodstock-based radio station that had a pivotal role in the festival’s first eight years.
The excitement only continues from there- in addition to these changes, Mountain Jam has announced the first names from their 2025 lineup, full of names new and old that are sure to excite- in addition to a mystery guest.
So far, fans in attendance can expect headlining performances from psychedelic rock trio Khruangbin and five-piece alternative rock unit Mt. Joy in addition to a myriad of other acts.
Formed in Houston, Texas, Khruangbin is known for their artful weaving of dub, rock, psychedelia, and classic soul influences among many other sounds that give their songs a universal yet uniquely “Khruangbin” touch that earned them a nomination for Best New Artist at the 2024 Grammys.
Philadelphia and Los Angeles-based indie folk band Mt. Joy has made quite the name for themselves over the past six years of their career with three remarkably acclaimed albums, multiple singles that have reached #1 on AAA Radio, and have amassed millions of streams across platforms to boot. With a name like theirs, it’s only fitting that such an iconic act will be adding the Mountain Jam to their list of festivals played.
In addition to Khruangbin and Mt. Joy, Mountain Jam has teased a mystery headliner that will remain just that until a later announcement to be made in early 2025.
Other acts that will grace the Mountain Jam stage include American rock and Grateful Dead cover band Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, the bluegrass-influenced folk unit Trampled by Turtles, the hip-hop fusion festival favoriteMichael Franti & Spearhead, an exciting new partnership from singer-songwriters Julien Baker and TORRES, Buffalo’s own jam rock band moe., Molly Tuttle alongside her band Golden Highway, and jam band Dogs in a Pile.
In addition, attendees can look forward to seeing performances from Karina Rykman, Kitchen Dwellers, Grace Bowers & The Hodge Podge, New York artists Mikaela Davis and Upstate, and Shane Guerrette.
Tickets for the 2025 Mountain Jam Festival from June 20-22 go live on Friday, November 22 at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. To learn more about Mountain Jam, keep up to date on the lineup, and purchase tickets to the festival’s triumphant return, visit their official website here.
