Krewella, the Other Hot Duo in EDM, to Spin Terminal 5 this Fall

If you ask the casual music fan who they think the hottest duo in the EDM genre is right now, 9 out of 10 times, the answer will most likely be the Chainsmokers due to their crossover commercial success and slim knowledge of the genre. Now if you ask someone with a little more knowledge about the genre, don’t expect them to blurt out the Chainsmokers.

In fact, the answer you may receive is the songwriting/DJ sisters Jahan and Yasmine Yousaf, better known as Krewella. These ladies are one of the hottest duos on the EDM scene, and no offense to Drew Taggert and the Chainsmokers, but the sisters can actually sing, just check out the acoustic version of their hit song “Alive.” With the powerful melodic vocals, and songwriting skills that the sisters Krewella possess, there is no real need for them to collaborate with artists from outside of their genre on their tracks.

Since their 2014 breakaway from high school friend, Kristopher “Rain Man” Trindl, Krewella has shown that they can survive without him, releasing club banger after club banger on their own, and even started their own record label called, Mixed Kids Records. The Yousaf sisters were also one of the artists that performed on the track “Love Song to the Earth,” which also featured Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Sheryl Crow, Fergie, Colbie Caillat, Natasha Bedingfield, Leona Lewis, Sean Paul, Kelsea Ballerini, Nicole Scherzinger, and more. Krewella has also headlined major EDM festivals, including Ultra Music Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, and Spring Awakening.

In 2012 with Trindl, Krewella won an International Dance Music Award for Best Breakthrough Artist. Their debut album Get Wet, debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200, with over 27,000 copies sold. The album featured the hits “Alive,” “Live For the Night,” “Enjoy the Ride,” and “Killin’ It.” The video for their current single, “Be There,” shows clips of the sisters growing up through the years, and the bond the two sisters share.

New Yorker’s can catch Krewella at Terminal 5, in NYC on Nov. 3, as the ladies tour in support of the first installment of their two part EP, New World. Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 day of show.
