Waterhole announces Party on the Patio lineup

The Waterhole in Saranac Lake released the lineup of bands to play their free music series that runs weekly May through September.

The series starts May 7 with Subsoil, a hip-hop fusion act from Rochester, and wraps up September 24 with Cold River City, a Colorado-based rock group with local ties. Every Thursday night, music runs from 6 to 10 p.m.

The lineup features regional favorites like Lucid, Tim Herron Corporation, Formula 5, Annie in the Water and Groovestick. Some regular visitors will also be back, including The Royal Noise, Swampcandy and Cold River City. A few new acts are in the lineup including Connecticut-based funk band the Funky Dawgz Brass Band and Binghamton-based folk band Milkweed.

The free live music series turns the Adirondack village’s Main Street into a block party every Thursday night when bands play on the Waterhole’s outdoor patio. The bar generally runs a beer special, but there’s no admission to just come and dance, and often people gather outside the fence enclosing the patio area with dogs and children to take in the tunes as well. On rainy evenings, bands move into the Waterhole’s upstairs music venue.
