Lena Bloch and Feathery Celebrate New Album in Brooklyn

Saxophonist Lena Bloch and her jazz quartet Feathery recently released their latest album Heart Knows. In celebration of the new album, they will play a pair of shows in her adopted home of Brooklyn.

Lena Bloch, a Russian-born saxophonist and composer, released her latest album Heart Knows in September. The album features her quartet Feathery with Cameron Brown on bass, Billy Mintz on drums and Russ Lossing on piano. Half the album’s tracks were composed by Bloch with the other half composed by Lossing. The tracks on the album each start off a written base, while leaving room for what Bloch calls “spontaneous collective composing and instant musical communication.”

In celebration of the new album, Bloch and Feathery play two shows. The first takes place on Saturday, Nov. 18 at The Drawing Room in Downtown Brooklyn. The show is at 7:30 p.m. with a cover of $20. Two weeks later on Saturday, Dec. 2, she plays IBeam in Gowanus. This show is at 8 p.m. with a $15 cover.
