Dr. Frank Malfitano unveiled the headliners for this year’s Syracuse Jazz Festival at yesterday’s press conference at M&T Bank in Syracuse and once again he’s knocked it out of the park! The annual gem will be held at its home on the campus of Onondaga Community College on July 17 and 18. The festival is the northeast’s largest free jazz festival and its major sponsors, M&T Bank, National Grid and C&S Companies have just signed up for a three year run that will bring the fest to its 35th anniversary.
The Friday, July 17 headliner is Wynton Marsalis, with the incomparable queen of soul, Aretha Franklin on Saturday the 18th. Add to those Buckwheat Zydeco on Friday, plus Lake Street Dive on Saturday. Malfiatano added:
“Headliners Aretha Franklin and Wynton Marsalis are superstars, two of the most-recognizable entertainers in the world, and artists that everyone knows and loves. They’re true American musical royalty, and two of the greatest American entertainer in history”. “They’re also American-born Artists who never fail to deliver, who have each put their stamp on American music forever!”
