BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT brought “The Circus” tour to Albany at Empire Underground on Monday, October 26. This marked the band’s first time playing in Albany, but they made a lasting impression on the crowd with an energetic performance that left fans wanting more.

Opening the night, No Love for the Middle Child set the tone with a sound that perfectly complemented BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT’s indie pop-punk style. Andrew Migliore is a Los Angeles-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer, originally from Philadelphia.

He has worked with a wide range of artists, including Juice WRLD, mgk, and Hollywood Undead. These collaborations highlight his versatility as an artist, blending elements of alternative, hip-hop, and pop-punk to create a sound that appeals across genres.
As soon as he and his bandmates, Alison Berry and Chris Crack, walked on stage, they had the crowd in the palm of their hands. Playing hits from ‘Frostbite’ to ‘February’, the audience jumped and danced along, but No Love wasn’t done there. He surprised the crowd by covering ‘Love Yourself’ by Justin Bieber effortlessly as fans clapped along.

At the end, No Love thanked the crowd “for coming out early and checking us out.” Opening a show is one of the toughest jobs on the bill, but they rose to the occasion, setting the perfect tone for BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT.

As the lights dimmed and the crowd prepared for the night ahead, Frankie Avalon’s ‘Beauty School Dropout’ from the 1978 film Grease played over the speakers, serving as a nod to the band’s name. The Los Angeles-based group, made up of Cole “Colie” Hutzler, Brent “Beepus” Burdett, Bardo Novotny, and Colton “SeaDawg” Furry, formed in 2020 and gained traction with their breakout single ‘Last Time.’

They opened out the gate with ‘A$$a$$In,’ immediately bringing high energy to the stage and setting the tone for the rest of the night. Within the first few songs, fans were jumping up and down; one fan also got their first opportunity to crowd surf after asking the band during the VIP upgrade.
As the set continued, fans could be heard shouting for their favorite songs. Before introducing ‘ADELINE (SAVE SOME FOR THE REST OF US),’ the band reattempted to pronounce Albany, prompting the crowd to shout the correct pronunciation back at them. Playing off the moment, they asked, “So, Albany, how about we play a song called ‘ADELINE’?” before launching into the track.

BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT delivered hit after hit, including ‘MADONNA’ and ‘DADDY DON’T CRY.’ But judging by the crowd’s reaction, the most anticipated song of the night was ‘scarlett letter.’ Cheers rang throughout the venue as fans threw their hands in the air and jumped along to the music.
From start to finish, the night was filled with energy, with No Love for the Middle Child setting the tone and BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT keeping the crowd engaged through their final song. Both acts connected with the audience, throwing guitar picks into the crowd as fans cheered and sang along. For BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT’s first time in Albany, “The Circus” tour delivered a memorable night that left fans with plenty to take home.
