The Cayuga Chamber Orchestra has announced “Nielsen and Fauré,” a captivating chamber music concert, will kick off the 50th Season Chamber Series on Sunday, November 15 at 3:00 pm at the First Unitarian Society of Ithaca. Don’t miss an extraordinary afternoon of chamber music with the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra.
“Nielsen and Fauré,” includes three contrasting chamber masterpieces– Fauré’s achingly beautiful D minor Trio; Nielsen’s witty, conversational wind quintet; and Elgar’s sweeping, nostalgic Quintet in A minor–come together in this compelling program to open the Chamber Series.

This intimate program showcases CCO musicians in three masterworks of the chamber repertoire. The afternoon opens with Gabriel Fauré’s lush Trio in D minor, Op. 120, performed by Christina Bouey (violin), Rosemary Elliott (cello), and Yoon Lee (piano). The ensemble then shifts to Carl Nielsen’s spirited Wind Quintet, Op. 43, featuring Allison Parramore (flute), John Lathwell (oboe), Diego Vásquez (clarinet), Dillon Meacham (bassoon), and Stefan Williams (horn). The concert concludes with Edward Elgar’s sweeping Quintet in A minor, Op. 84, with Christina Bouey and William Knuth (violins), Julian Seney (viola), Rosemary Elliott (cello), and Yoon Lee (piano).
Running time is approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes, including intermission.

Couperin and Purcell – May 9
A journey through Baroque invention and beyond—with Hipocondrie’s lively concertanti, Couperin’s elegant dance suites, Purcell’s searching viol fantasias, and Janitsch’s richly chorale inflected quartet—offers an afternoon of unexpected colors and quiet depth
