The Luzerne Chamber Music Festival Returns for Summer 2026

Luzerne Music Center is preparing for a summer filled with performances and musical instruction with the return of the Luzerne Chamber Music Festival for its Summer 2026 year, offering guest artists, faculty concerts, student performances, and a new group of talented musicians.

Luzerne Music Center is an institution founded in 1980 by the Philadelphia Orchestra cellist Bert Phillips and his wife Toby Blumenthal, a Steinway pianist. The idea of the music center was formed for talented young musicians to receive a good training at a summer camp despite their socio-economic status. After discovering the old Camp Tekakwitha property in Lake Luzerne during their stay in Saratoga Springs, as members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, the couple created a summer destination for young musicians.

The Lake Luzerne center since then has served generations of student performers as well as bridged the gap between young musicians and professional artists and educators.

As the current CEO and Artistic Director of Luzerne Music Center, Elizabeth Pitcairn was once a student at the institute before joining the management board of the organization.

This year’s Chamber Music Festival at Luzerne Music Center will include performances by Pitcairn and other guest artists, such as the Akropolis Reed Quintet and the Fabulous Philadelphians, comprising members of The Philadelphia Orchestra along with faculty performances and student showcases.
