Maverick Concert Hall in Woodstock will be opening its doors on Saturday, June 6 for its annual Maverick Concert Open House. It will be free to attend, packed with a day of live music, entertainment, and family activities will be available to the public. This will kick off the hall’s summer season of events.
Maverick Concerts Open House will begin at 12pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony to honor improvements made to the hall. With the help of New York State, New York State Council on the Arts, and private donors, the hall was renovated in time for this summer. These renovations include a green room for performers and the installation of a new floor.

Local musicians will perform throughout the event, with music ranging in classical, pop, folk, and jazz. Additionally, Onteora High School Chamber Orchestra and Bennett Jazz Ensemble will give a performance during the event.
Art will also be on display at the event. Woodstock School of Art instructor Angela Gaffney-Smith will teach patrons the art of transparent watercolor. Guests will be able to contribute to a community painting and the opportunity to create their own work to keep.
Vendors and organizations will be present at the event, most of whom are based in the area. Stewart’s Shops will be providing free ice cream alongside Hope Farm, who will have a free petting zoo area.

The summer kickoff event coincides with the 250th anniversary of America’s founding. Ars Choralis, a Woodstock-based chorus, are to perform a range of American music to honor the anniversary. This will range from classical to contemporary music.
Although the Open House will take place on June 6, the summer season officially begins on June 27. This will feature artists in jazz and classical music.
The Maverick Concert Hall has an impressive history in Woodstock. Built in 1916, it is the home to an art colony founded by Hervey White called The Maverick. It held the Maverick festival, which later inspired the 1969 Woodstock festival. It is considered a sanctuary for artists, dancers, and musicians.
