Madison Square Garden, one of the most prestigious stages in music becomes the backdrop to Tedeschi Trucks Bands new concert film The Garden Party.

The Garden Party, directed by Grammy-nominated filmmaker John McDermott, documents Tedeschi Trucks Bands sold-out Madison Square Garden debut on September 29, 2023. GRAMMY-nominated filmmaker John McDermott directs the feature film, while BAFTA Award-winning producer George Scott co-produces alongside Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi. Featuring guest appearances from Trey Anastasio, Norah Jones, and Lukas Nelson the film captures the scale, emotion, and musical depth of the landmark performance.
McDermott said the Madison Square Garden performance showcases “just how special and unique the Tedeschi Trucks Band is,” adding that he wanted to create a film that allows audiences everywhere to see how extraordinary the band is.

Tedeschi Trucks Band has achieved remarkable prominence within the roots music genre, a rise underscored by their ability to sell out Madison Square Garden. The milestone performance reflects the cultural significance of the venue, long regarded as a symbol of artistic recognition. The moment cemented the band’s place among the genre’s most celebrated acts. For that reason, the band aims to capture the emotional ferocity of that moment in the upcoming concert film The Garden Party.

The Garden Party will premiere at a special screening event at New York’s Brooklyn Bowl shortly after the release of Tedeschi Trucks Band’s new studio album Future Soul on March 20. Tedeschi Trucks Band’s sixth studio album, produced by Mike Elizondo and co-produced by Derek Trucks is undoubtedly a unique album to date from the revered 12-piece powerhouse ensemble.The 11-track collection simultaneously blending a variety of influences including funk, rock ‘n’ roll, blues, soul, and punk.
On Sunday, March 22, The Garden Party taking place during the band’s 10-night run begins at 1 p.m. and will feature full concert sound for the screening. Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children under 16, with all proceeds benefiting HeadCount. Tickets are available here.
A wider theatrical release will follow later this spring, beginning with an additional screening near Susan Tedeschi’s hometown of Boston on May 1 at the Regent Theatre in Arlington, MA. Future Soul will be available to pre-save on digital streaming platforms and pre-order on CD and vinyl. In support of the album, Tedeschi Trucks Band will embark on their headlining Future Soul 2026 Tour, beginning April 14 and running through late October.
