The sounds of The Doors and Mr. Mojo Risin’ rocked the house as Feast of Friends began the fall season at the Glove Theatre in Gloversville on Saturday, September 6.

The Hudson Valley based band has been meticulously recreating the sound and unmistakable live essence of The Doors since forming in 2013.

Unlike typical acts that rely on parody, this tribute band avoids wigs, costumes and impersonations, instead honoring the music of The Doors itself with precision and passion, blending the band’s unique studio sound with their renowned epic live improvisation.

Joe McCausland’s powerful vocals captivated the crowd throughout the night. Avid fans were eager to join in several times when McCausland offered the microphone to audience members during the “Mr. Mojo Risin’” refrain of “LA Woman.” The audience excitedly joined in again during the encore performance of “Roadhouse Blues” which was introduced by Joe as, “The greatest drinking song of all time.”

Jude DeFalco on drums and Frank Casciaro Jr. on bass make up the rhythm section of the band. Both musicians began their musical journeys at the ripe old ages of seven and six respectively. Jude began his percussion career on Tupperware containers and borrowed cymbals while Frank started out on piano and guitar before transitioning to bass in his teens. Both have driving forces in the Hudson Valley music community for many years.

Robby Krieger’s guitar licks were brought to life by guitarist Mark Davidoff. Far from the plastic KISS guitar he started out on, Mark masterfully played lead and slide for all of the band’s songs.

Rounding out Feast of Friends on Keyboards was Eric Letterio. Eric has played for many years across a variety of musical genres from 50’s doo-wop to new country to pop rock and heavy metal; he has perfected the soulful artistry of The Doors’ Ray Manzarek.

The Glove Theatre will play host to a wonderful line-up of musical talent throughout the fall. The Glove Theatre organization has been on a mission to restore the original glory of the historic 1914 Schine Brothers flagship theatre.
