HOLMDEL, NJ — Wu-Tang Clan brought Wu-Tang Forever: The Final Chamber tour to PNC Bank Arts Center on September 11, delivering a night that celebrated more than three decades of the legendary Staten Island group’s music.

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony opened the night with four of the group’s five members — Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-N-Bone — taking the stage. The Cleveland group ran through favorites including “1st of tha Month,” “Notorious Thugs” and “Tha Crossroads,” setting the stage for Wu-Tang Clan.

When Wu-Tang Clan took the stage, the show moved between classic group tracks and solo material from members of the Clan. Songs from Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) were well represented, with “Bring da Ruckus,” “Protect Ya Neck,” “Method Man” and “C.R.E.A.M.” among the night’s highlights.

The group also reached into the members’ solo catalogs, including GZA’s “Liquid Swords,” Method Man’s “Bring the Pain” and Ol’ Dirty Bastard favorites “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” and “Got Your Money.” “Triumph,” from 1997’s Wu-Tang Forever, was another standout as the show worked its way through some of the most recognizable music connected to the Wu-Tang catalog.

The latest leg of The Final Chamber tour features 26 amphitheater shows and began August 27 at Darien Lake Amphitheater in Darien Center, New York. The run includes stops in Toronto, Virginia Beach, Atlanta, Tampa, Sacramento and Las Vegas before wrapping up October 4 at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre in Phoenix.

More than 30 years after Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) introduced the group to the world, Wu-Tang’s influence remains unmistakable. Their September 11 stop in New Jersey brought together generations of fans for a show that covered the group and solo records that helped establish the Clan as one of hip-hop’s most important acts.
