The Wavys, a nonprofit organization and music platform dedicated to bringing visibility to emerging independent artists, will return on Sep. 5 for their 6th annual award ceremony.
This year’s ceremony will take place at Love’s Club in Bushwick, Brooklyn and will include over a dozen live performances from artists such as Boy Jr. and Ladibree. 11 awards will be presented in various categories, including Song of the Year, Music Video of the Year, and Song for a Cause.
The ceremony, co-hosted by Goldilocks and Divinity Roxx, will open with pre-show performances by artists M the Myth and IMPRESS, followed by more live music throughout the night. Boy Jr., Ladibree, Shanay Morant, James Ian, Carly Glenn, Jesediah, KNoWTe, Dimitris Nezis, Zen How, Eliza and the Organix, Eri Blossom, Madam London, and Bradley Valentin will all take the stage.
The Wavys was founded in 2021 to create recognition and opportunities for historically underrepresented voices in the music industry, with a focus on newly emerging talent. In the words of M the Myth, who is both a co-founder of The Wavys and one of this year’s opening performers, “Six years of The Wavys is six years of betting on artists before the rest of the world catches up, and we’re just getting started.”
As in previous years, the event will be open to audiences beyond those who purchase in-person tickets, with the ceremony slated to be livestreamed for free on YouTube. Highlighting the founders’ commitment to accessibility, the broadcast will offer instant live transcription, ASL interpretation, and free live closed captioning.
The Wavys Awards are supported by the New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), as well as by Pride 365 Radio, Inspiration Audio, Radicle Wine, and Brooklyn Vintage. Tickets can be purchased at thewavys.org.
