Bethany Yarrow will celebrate the music and legacy of her father, Peter Yarrow of Peter, Paul and Mary, with two special tribute concerts in New York this September.

Joined by multi-instrumentalist Gordon Titcomb and Brazilian composer Maria Esther Pallares, Yarrow will perform songs of love, freedom and activism on September 4 at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs and September 6 at the Woodstock Playhouse. The Woodstock performance will also feature producer and guitarist Kevin Salem.

Bethany grew up surrounded by the folk music and activism that defined her father’s career and has continued that tradition through her own work as a singer and activist.

“Music and activism have always gone hand in hand in my life,” Yarrow said. “I grew up singing with my dad at rallies, surrounded by iconoclasts and activists who believed that helping to create a more peaceful and just world was an essential part of being human.”

“I miss my dad more than I can say, but I hear his voice constantly whispering, ‘SING! Just keep on singing!’ And so we will.”

Pallares also shares a special connection to Peter Yarrow’s final recordings. After hearing Bethany singing and translating Pallares’ songs from Portuguese in 2023, Peter encouraged them to record together. He joined them on two of the final songs he ever recorded, including “Sacred Pathway,” produced by Salem in Woodstock.

Titcomb, meanwhile, spent years touring and recording with Peter Yarrow and Noel Paul Stookey and is known for his work on pedal steel, mandolin, guitar, dobro and banjo.

The tribute concerts will mix beloved folk classics with newer movement songs and Brazilian rhythms while continuing Peter Yarrow’s tradition of bringing people together through music.
