In Focus: Justine Skye at Baby’s All Right

On Tuesday, July 28, Brooklyn’s own, Justine Skye took the stage at the sold-out Baby’s All Right as the second stop on her CANDY tour, celebrating her new EP CANDY, released March 27.

Justine first found success as a teen sharing silky R&B covers and original music on Tumblr. She eventually parlayed that fanfare into her first record deal at 19. In the years since, she’s continued to experiment and evolve across contemporary R&B, pop and dance music, releasing several EP’s and two studio albums, her debut Ultraviolet and the Timbaland-produced Space & Time.

With the release of CANDY, Justine marks another evolution in her sound. The eight-track EP embraces house, pop and club music. The result is a playful, dance-driven project that moved the crowd from the moment she stepped on the stage, until the moment she stepped off. The energy stayed high with Justine performing standout tracks like “Ear Candy,” “Yap” and the Kaytranada produced “Oh Lala.”

At one moment Skye even jumped into the tightly packed crowd to sing and dance amongst her fans. Or more approptiately, Family. The night was more than fanfare, it was a homecoming and the intimate Baby’s All Right was the perfect location for it. Truly a moment to remember with Justine Skye and all who came to experience the night.
