Tough Old Bird Releases New Single “Shape Of Our Love”

Tough Old Bird, an independent folk rock band from Buffalo has just dropped its latest single titled “Shape Of Our Love,” which becomes their second release of 2026. The single was released on July 15 and forms part of the band’s summer release cycle of singles every three weeks.

Starting off with a light, gentle instrumental, “Shape Of Our Love” brings its listeners into a soothing environment. The light percussion slowly begins to enter as the song develops, along with the warm vocals of Nathan Corrigan. Its soothing and classic sound makes it great to listen to for a cozy place like a coffee shop or vintage record store.

The lyrics of the song create an image of everlasting love with the help of poetic imagery and personal reflections. Allusions to clouds and “the instant our eyes first met” are used to convey an engaging story which goes perfectly well with the relaxing style of the band. As the song unfolds, the composition becomes richer and more complex with the involvement of melodious string music, but ultimately concludes in an equally relaxing manner.

Also, the song touches upon themes such as time, and how small marks are left throughout the years by the person. The lead vocalist, Nathan Corrigan mentioned that the track is inspired by his own life experiences, like his marriage and living in an old house with many memories and people’s stories. Instead of judging the past, the song ponders upon the memories and achievements of the person.

The Tough Old Bird band was created by Matthew and Nathan Corrigan, brothers who have grown up in a rural area of Western New York among music in a small house hidden in the woods. After the release of the debut album Gambling Days in 2016, the brothers played as a duo for many years until Brendan O’Shea joined the group on bass and Ricky Bechard on drums.

Tough Old Bird keeps on developing past their origins in indie folk music. The band’s most recent releases feature a more electric form of indie rock but still retain their signature approach to songwriting and lyrical depth.
