The band returned in 2025 with an EP, Road To Reign: A Prelude, which was a huge success and was followed by their 2026 album, Chasing Crowns. The Cab is best known for its 2012 single ‘Angel With A Shotgun’, which is a prime example of pop-punk from the 2000’s.

As fans wrapped around the building long before the doors were set to open, the excitement in the air was palpable. Many of whom never thought they’d have a chance to see the band play again or at all. The Cab is full of surprises, especially for those who attended Saturday’s show.

The night opened with CARR, a pop-punk project by the singer Carly McClellan. She blew away the packed venue with her stage presence and captivating songs. Next, Paradise Fears, an alternative band from 2007, has been on a hiatus on and off, coming back for this tour to play cities they haven’t played in a decade.

The decade was worth the wait. Paradise Fears came back as if no time had passed, and according to lead singer Sam Miller, “You’ll never find six motherfuckers who love ohs and ahs more than us”; they’d be right.

Once production switched over, the crowd buzzed with anticipation, and fans along the barricade screamed as lights flickered. Suddenly, lights shot up and the notes to ‘Ultima Ratio Regum’ rang throughout Irving Plaza. The audience was more than alive; they were sublime.

Song after song played from ‘Back From the Dead’ and ‘These Are the Lies’, the audience was putty in their hands. Bass guitarist Joey Thunder was the shining touch to the lyrics “Yeah, what’s your friend’s name with the blue hair?” as he shook his shoulder-length blue hair. Moshing and singing with such passion its no wonder how this show became so special.

Before ‘Every Universe, ’ Alexander DeLeon announced that they hadn’t played it in a few weeks but “We are playing because it’s sold out and the person it’s written about is in the room”, referring to his wife Josephine. After starting, his in-ears were acting up, which caused him to pause: “This is the one song I’m not fucking up,” and he did not once everything was sorted.

Each moment became more special than the next, from Cassadee Pope joining ‘Take My Hand’ to Samuel Miller joining ‘Living Louder’. One of the best moments of the night was the wager bandmates put on if the crowd would know ‘Intoxicated’, since they have never played the song in full on a tour. Fans absolutely blew them away so far, singing the lyrics right back at them.

Band members also celebrated Pride Month. DeLeon spoke: “June might be my favorite month of the year; it’s fucking Pride Month!”

The Cab gave everyone a one-of-a-kind night, a night of inclusion, love, and passion for a band that has touched so many people over the last almost two decades of its existence.
