Jenna Nicholls Performing for Clearwater’s 60th Anniversary

Singer-songwriter Jenna Nicholls will perform at The Local in Saugerties in Ulster County on July 11 for a benefit concert supporting Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. The show is part of Clearwater’s 60th anniversary concert series, which looks back at the folk picnic events started by Pete Seeger that helped raise money for the Clearwater sloop.

Clearwater

Clearwater has long connected music with environmental work in the Hudson Valley. The nonprofit owns and operates the historic 106-foot Hudson River sloop Clearwater. It uses education, advocacy, sailing, and music to advance its mission to protect the Hudson River.

Nicholls’ music draws on older American folk, country, and classic songwriter traditions. Moreover, her musical vibes have been compared to artists like Hank Williams and Patsy Cline, while still feeling in tune with modern Americana. Nicholls has released four albums, including The Commuter, which was produced by Grammy-winning musician Larry Campbell.

Additionally, the show will open with Dorraine Scofield, a Hudson Valley singer and violinist with a career in bluegrass and country-rock. Scofield has also shared the stage with artists including Waylon Jennings, George Jones, and Charlie Daniels.

The concert begins at 8 pm at The Local in Saugerties. Tickets are available at bit.ly/JennaforCW, and advanced purchases are encouraged.
