This past Wednesday, April 15, Snail Mail brought their latest tour in support of their new album, Ricochet, to Brooklyn Paramount.

A staple in the indie rock scene and no stranger to Brooklyn, Snail Mail returned to a packed room of devoted fans this past Wednesday. The tour follows the release of Ricochet, the band’s first album in five years. Leaning more heavily into a ’90s grunge inspired sound for this release, the record has already been met with strong critical reception.
Opening the show on Wednesday evening was the acoustic duo @, who took the stage at 7:30 p.m. Comprised of Victoria Rose and Stone Filipczak, the duo set a mellow tone with their indie folk originals. Their blend of guitar, clarinet, and soft harmonies stood out, as did a particularly memorable rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Mama You’ve Been On My Mind.”

Next up was the jangly power-pop band, Sharp Pins. Led by Chicago musician Kai Slater, the four-piece delivered a lively, straight-ahead rock set, channeling the spirit of bands like Big Star. With infectious hooks and energetic stage presence, they quickly won over the crowd.

Snail Mail took the stage at 9:30 p.m. to an enthusiastic welcome. The set design, complete with a white picket fence and house facade, added a fittingly nostalgic backdrop as they first launched into “Tractor Beam,” the opening track from Ricochet. The band moved through several new songs while weaving in older favorites like “Heat Wave” and “Speaking Terms.” To close out the night, Snail Mail returned to the new record with a performance of the title track, “Ricochet.”

Snail Mail continues their tour throughout the U.S with support from Sharp Pins, Avalon Emerson & The Charm, Swirlies, Armlock, and @.
