Proctors and CapitalRep Celebrate a Century on Stage with 2026–27 Season

As the curtain rises on its centennial year, Proctors Collaborative that carries the immense spirit of a century of storytelling.

Defined by this landmark milestone, the season unfolds with a lineup of productions that bridge a century of storytelling with what’s to come. Meanwhile, through its enduring presence, Proctors has reshaped Schenectady from a modest city into a vibrant center of cultural significance. As a result, the Capital Region welcomes the 2026–27 season at Proctors Theater and Capital Repertory Theatre with the understanding that thought-provoking storytelling has the power to inspire change.

Following the announcement, Proctors Collaborative CEO Philip Morris reflected on the significance of the milestone saying, “For 100 years, Proctors has been more than a theatre — it’s been a gathering place where our community shares stories, celebrates artistry, and creates lifelong memories. This anniversary season honors our rich history while embracing the future of live performance in the Capital Region. We’re proud to present a lineup that reflects the range, quality, and excitement audiences have come to expect from us.”

Additionally, subscriptions for the 2026–27 season are now available, with more details on single tickets and anniversary programming expected in the coming months. BOOP! The MusicalMainStage at Proctors Oct. 13-18 – The new Broadway musical-comedy extravaganza that brings the iconic Betty Boop character to life. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Jerry Mitchell, with songs by Grammy winner David Foster, lyrics by Tony Award nominee Susan Birkenhead, and a book by Tony Award-winner Bob.

“The Notebook” MainStage at Proctors Dec. 1-6 – Based on the best-selling novel that inspired the iconic film, The Notebook tells the story of Allie and Noah, two individuals from different worlds whose love endures through time. Featuring music by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson and a book by television writer Bekah Brunstetter, the production brings a contemporary voice to the story.

“Hell’s Kitchen” MainStage at Proctors Dec. 29-Jan. 3 – The award-winning Broadway musical, created and inspired by 17-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys, takes audiences on a raw and relatable journey of self-growth through the story of Ali. The production’s music, featuring a blend of Alicia Keys’ greatest hits and original songs, is brought to life through dynamic choreography that captures the energy of a 17-year-old girl full of fire.

“The Wiz” MainStage at Proctors Feb. 23-28 – The Tony Award-winning Best Musical is a groundbreaking twist on “The Wizard of Oz” changed the face of Broadway. Dorothy’s journey in a contemporary world is underscored by a fusion of soul, gospel, rock, and ’70s funk, fusing the world of Oz with modern sound.

“MAMMA MIA!” MainStage at Proctors April 6-11 – Like a time capsule filled with sun, sand, and song, MAMMA MIA! brings a wave of nostalgia to the stage, carried by the timeless hits of ABBA.

“Just in Time” MainStage at Proctors June 1-6 – Hailed as a “runaway hit,” the acclaimed Broadway musical Just in Time brings the story of Bobby Darin to life. The singer’s short but eventful journey unfolds on stage, capturing the highs of his remarkable career. Featuring hits like “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” “Splish Splash,” and “Dream Lover.”

“The Phantom of the Opera” MainStage at Proctors June 23-July 4 – A revitalized production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera is presented by Cameron Mackintosh. Featuring Maria Björnson’s original design, based on the celebrated direction of Harold Prince, with musical staging and choreography by Gillian Lynne, the production remains just as hauntingly powerful.

“The Last American Newspaper” MainStage at theREP Sept. 25-Oct. 18 – Adapted from Ken Tingley’s memoir, the production transports audiences to Glens Falls, by all means revealing the impact of investigative journalism within a close-knit community. The show emphasizes the press as a force for accountability and community awareness.

“The Magi” MainStage at theREP Nov. 27-Dec. 24 – Loosely inspired by O. Henry’s The Gift of the Magi, folk rock duo Nix and Jude face a pivotal holiday season, one filled with live music and quirky humor that explores the meaning of giving, love and sacrifice all at the same time.

“Eureka Day” MainStage at theREP Feb. 26-March 1 – A satire set in an ultra-progressive California school shows audiences how health-related issues can challenge even the most well-intentioned communities. The play’s relevance lies in its exploration of misinformation, public health, and the tension between individual belief and collective responsibility at the present time.

“Clyde’s” MainStage at theREP April 23-May 16 – Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright Lynn Nottage tells a story of redemption balanced against the world of a roadside sandwich shop where second chances become possible. The pursuit of the perfect sandwich moves audiences to laughter while revealing something deeply human about the act of dreaming.

“Young Frankenstein” MainStage at theREP July 9-Aug. 8 – Mel Brooks presents audiences with a comedic twist in perspective on classic horror storytelling. When Dr. Frederick Frankenstein steps into his grandfather’s shadow, the line between horror and comedy begins to blur.
