The Afghan Whigs have announced the release of their new single, “House of I,” as they prepare for their upcoming 40th Anniversary North American Tour beginning next week.
“House of I” is The Afghan Whigs’ first new music since 2022 via Royal Cream/BMG. The single is driven by pounding drums alongside guitars and caustic lyrics steeped in desire. Greg Dulli’s distinctive and unmistakable vocals deliver the lyrics. The single was produced and mixed by both Dulli and Christopher Thorn and was recorded at Marigny Sound in New Orleans, LA.
Dulli commented, “Laid this one down in New Orleans last summer, was looking for an up-tempo banger and feel like we found one here.”
In addition to releasing their single, the band will begin their 40th Anniversary North American Tour. The tour includes 21 dates and includes three shows in New York. The tour begins in Woodstock on April 25th at the Bearsville Theater, and will also visit New York City’s Webster Hall on April 30th and Buffalo’s Town Ballroom on May 4th.
Greg Dulli, the band’s co-founder, commented, “40 years later, I still get to do the thing I love the most. Writing songs and performing them with my friends all over the world. I truly have to pinch myself.”
The band has three critically acclaimed albums: “Do to the Beast” (2014), “In Spades” (2017), and “How Do You Burn?” (2022). They are also planning to release an album later this year.
