Gorillaz, the world’s most successful virtual act, have announced a 22-date North American tour this fall, including a highly anticipated stop at Madison Square Garden on September 29.
The phenomenon of Gorillaz has presented worldwide audiences with groundbreaking sounds for over two decades. Created by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, Gorillaz brings to life the animated band members 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Noodle, and Russel Hobbs, making their presence feel like a real-life version of the characters fans have followed for decades.
Since 2022, the band has not embarked on a full North American tour, but they will now return to the stage joined by special guests Little Simz and Deltron 3030. The tour arrives following the February 27 release of their highly anticipated album The Mountain. The album, much like the band itself, highlights Gorillaz ability to continually redefine what a virtual act can achieve.
A constant blending of genres that gives way to a sound the ear can’t easily categorize but feels both innovative and familiar, reflecting the band’s animated but resonant identity. The project has produced a catalogue of genre-bending hits including “Feel Good Inc.,” “Clint Eastwood,” “On Melancholy Hill,” “DARE,” and “Rhinestone Eyes,” helping bring a hard-to-define sound into a musical domain that embraces experimentation like never before.
