Global Punjabi Superstar Diljit Dosanjh to Play MSG May 24

World-famous singer and Emmy-nominated film star Diljit Dosanjh announced his “Aura World Tour,” bringing Punjabi-language hits to 13 cities across North America this summer. The tour will make a stop at Madison Square Garden on May 24.

Famous both for his role on the Bollywood big screen and for sitting atop the Indian pop charts, Dosanjh is on a streak of firsts. He was the first Indian-born artist to perform at Coachella, and his recent sold-out tour, “Born to Shine,” broke ticket sale records for an Indian artist in Australia.

In the last year alone, Diljit received an Emmy nomination for his performance in the Netflix-produced Amar Singh Chamkila, was named best dressed at the Met Gala by Vogue, and collaborated with reggaeton behemoth J Balvin.

Diljit’s sound stretches across Punjabi genres and has begun to receive global attention. He began with a more traditional Punjabi folk sound but, after an astronomical rise to fame, began to experiment with pop, rock and rap. Today, his sound is a sleek mix of traditional Indian tones with modern production and flare.

Diljit is unabashed in his Indian background and Sikh identity. Although the tour will mostly attract diaspora audiences, Diljit has something for everyone.

“Diljit Dosanjh is spearheading a revolution in global touring culture for Indian artists. His association with these powerhouse companies signifies a shift in perception toward Indian music on the global stage, paving the way for future generations of artists to follow in his footsteps,” Dosanjh’s publicist said.

His last North America tour drew 215,000 fans across 13 shows. This time, he has booked some of the biggest arenas, from New York’s Madison Square Garden to Los Angeles’ Crypto.com Arena.
