Les Claypool announced a summer “Claypool Gold” tour featuring over 25 shows in cities across the country. The tour, billed as a “mind-melting musical experience stretching from May 20 to the fourth of July, will feature three of Claypool’s bands, Primus, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, and Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade. The tour is set to perform at Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC) on June 12.

Each night, all the bands will share the stage all at once for a fluid show featuring wildly different setlists and surprises. Claypool’s last performance at SPAC was back in August 2024 with Primus Puddles delighted the audience with an “electrifying” set-list.
Known for genre-blurring rock and evolving projects, Les Claypool rose to fame as the frontman of Primus, an alternative music group in Northern California in the 1980s. Claypool has continued to release projects with and in parallel to Primus.
To set the tone, The Claypool Lennon Delirium, a collaborative project between Claypool and Sean Ono Lennon, released a new single titled “WAP” (What A Predicament). The new single is a groovy, psychedelic five minute track with clear Beatles influences. Existential lyrics drift in over a submerged, synthetic groove, exploring themes of disillusionment with reality and information overload in the digital age.
“Like a president caught in shenanigans with the beauty queen,” Lennon croons in the opening line. “I’m guessing they may not be so innocent as they’d have us believe.”

After a catchy refrain, the song concludes, “All the kids in the streets they remind me of much darker times. I’m not sure if history repeats but I’m certain that it rhymes. And it makes me wanna die sometimes.”
The tour will stop at SPAC on June 12. The 25,000 capacity venue offers both lawn and amphitheater seats. Tickets go on sale online Friday, January 23 at 10am.
