Miami-bred, Brooklyn-based artist Nory released the music video for “SNIP SNIP” on Tuesday, Jan. 7, amplifying conversations that started when his street interview discussing his half-Muslim, half-Jewish identity went viral in recent weeks. The track appears on his debut LP FUCK THAT THIS THE RHYTHM, out now, and precedes his headlining show Wednesday, Jan. 15 at Nightclub 101 in Manhattan’s Lower East Side.

The “SNIP SNIP” video showcases compelling visual storytelling through text painting and lyrical illustration that mirrors the track’s message about refusing to conform to expectations. The instantly catchy single blends hip-hop with alternative influences, creating a sound reminiscent of artists like Sofía Isella who refuse easy categorization. Rather than taking sides on polarizing issues, the track articulates the tension of existing outside clean categories during a cultural moment shaped by pressure to choose.
Lines like I’m moving to the left, because I’m never right / I can’t stay in the middle, I’m too afraid to die capture a personal response to political corruption and the search for identity between worlds. The 13 tracks on FUCK THAT THIS THE RHYTHM address the anger and pain resulting from political corruption alongside his exploration his identity.
Nory recorded the album at Mission Sound Studios in Williamsburg following writing sessions with his band, which includes drummer Skippy, guitarist Jordan and bassist/producer Nir.
The artist also hosts JAVAJAM, a weekly Brooklyn music event. His diverse discography spans EDM, rap, rock, hip hop and experimental jazz. Recent viral freestyles with Robert Glasper, Thundercat and Harry Mack have created a surge of attention around his voice and perspective. He headlines Nightclub 101 on Wednesday, Jan. 15, carrying this momentum into a live setting where his musicality and lived complexity collide onstage. Tickets are available here.
