Tribute bands and free educational events bring sounds of the ’80s and beyond to Gloversville. The Glove Theatre is rolling out a 2026 winter season packed with tribute acts honoring rock legends, from Johnny Cash to Nirvana, alongside free educational programs exploring the Southern Adirondacks’ natural world.
The historic venue hosts theatrical performances, concerts, educational events and movies year-round. Several groups performing this winter are part of the “518” concert series, which launched in November 2023 to support local bands.

A Man Named Cash – Saturday, Jan. 10
A Man Named Cash takes the stage at 7 p.m. The Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash tribute features vocalist Eric Hofmanis, who was chosen by The Johnny Cash Estate to lead the “Johnny Cash – The Official Concert Experience” tour that spanned over 100 cities across the U.S. and Canada. Hofmanis performs alongside Megan Houde as June Carter. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. Tickets are available here.
Strange Magic NY: The ELO Experience – Saturday, Jan. 17
Strange Magic NY returns at 7 p.m. after selling out the venue last year. The tribute celebrates Electric Light Orchestra’s catalog, including Mr. Blue Sky, Don’t Bring Me Down, Evil Woman and Turn to Stone, while honoring Jeff Lynne’s collaborations. The band incorporates violin, cello and two keyboard players to recreate ELO’s complex harmonies. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. Back in Black: The True AC/DC Tribute – Saturday, Feb. 7
Back in Black delivers the AC/DC experience at 7 p.m. The tribute band performs classics from Highway to Hell to Thunderstruck, recreating the electrifying performances that made AC/DC legendary. The show is presented by The Glove Theatre and E1 Presents. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. Tickets are available here.

The BrokenHearted: Tom Petty Tribute – Saturday, Feb. 21
The BrokenHearted returns at 7 p.m. Lead singer Johnny Clifford channels Tom Petty’s distinctive voice while the band delivers the driving rhythms and harmonies that defined Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. The setlist spans hits from American Girl to Free Fallin’. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. Tickets are available here.
Finding My Walden – Beyond the Chain – Sunday, Feb. 22
Mark Frederick presents this free all-ages educational event at 2 p.m. Frederick’s photography captures Southern Adirondack flora and fauna found in Bleecker and Fulton County. His presentation explores 26 years of observations and personal transformation through connecting with the natural world. The event is co-sponsored by The Glove’s Education Series and Southern Adirondack Audubon Society.
The Ultimate Journey Experience by Legend – Saturday, Feb. 28
Legend brings Journey’s greatest hits to The Glove at 7 p.m. The tribute band performs classics including Don’t Stop Believin’, Anyway You Want It, With Open Arms and Who’s Crying Now. The event is presented by the Glove Theatre’s 518 Concert Series and E1 Presents. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. Viva Las Elvis – Saturday, March 7
Dan Fontaine and Memphis Sun Mafia Band perform at 7 p.m. Fontaine, a national award-winning Elvis tribute artist, began performing his tribute in 2014 after starting his music career at age 16. The band captures Elvis Presley’s repertoire from rock ‘n’ roll classics to soulful power ballads. All ages are welcome, with adult beverages available for those 21 and over with valid ID. That 80s Band: A Tribute to the 80s – Saturday, March 21

Adirondack Fish & Piscivorous Birds – Sunday, March 22
This free all-ages educational event takes place at 2 p.m., with a fly-tying demonstration by The Fly Shack at 1 p.m. Lisa Holst provides an historical overview of Adirondack fish communities, profiles lesser-known native fish species, and discusses ongoing restoration efforts for endangered species. The presentation explores how bird species recovery affects fish and fisheries, and how environmental contamination impacts piscivorous birds. The event is co-sponsored by The Glove’s Education Series and Southern Adirondack Audubon Society.
Nirvani: A Nirvana Tribute Experience – Friday, March 27
Nirvani closes out the winter lineup at 7 p.m. The tribute band recreates the raw, high-energy performances that made Nirvana a cultural phenomenon, playing favorites including Smells Like Teen Spirit, Come As You Are and Heart-Shaped Box alongside deeper tracks.
