OSFL Begins New Season with “Phantoms & Fantasies”

The Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes (OSFL) is beginning their 2025-26 season with a haunting night of music – “Phantoms & Fantasies” is set to take the Corning Museum of Glass stage on Saturday, October 18, at 7:00 p.m., bringing a set full of spooky Halloween-themed music to the Southern Tier.

OSFL’s show is guaranteed to entertain both orchestra enthusiasts and newcomers alike, combining the classic works of composers like Mussorgsky and Saint-Saëns with iconic film scores and Broadway themes. The official setlist includes Bernard Herrmann’s spine-chilling Psycho suite, John Williams’ legendary themes from E.T. and Harry Potter, and the ghostly Broadway hits from Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera, plus the Halloween mainstays of classical music, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain and Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre.

For songs with vocals, such as those from The Phantom of the Opera, well-known Southern Tier soloists Katrina Kuka (soprano) and Seamus Buxton (tenor) will accompany OSFL. The pair are both graduates of Ithaca College, and they’re excited to bring life to some of Phantom’s most beloved tracks, including “Music of the Night” and “All I Ask of You.”

For this special one-night-only show, OSFL doesn’t want the spooky Halloween magic to be confined to the stage. Concertgoers are heavily encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costumes to maximize the festive spirit and create “an atmosphere unlike any other.”

Tickets are currently available for purchase here while supplies last, and they’re expected to sell quickly. Prices start at $29 for adults, $15 for students, and free for children under 18 with a ticketed adult. Don’t miss your chance to be swept away into the world of classical music with OSFL’s spectacular renditions of Halloween hits.
