Oakpop is returning to Troy on Saturday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m., bringing an assortment of local musicians from the Swordpaw collective to the lawn of Troy’s Oakwood Community Center.

Oakpop began last year as a fundraiser for Troy’s Oakwood Community Center, which seeks to build community among the grassroots organizations of Troy. Oakpop serves the additional purpose of promoting the music of Swordpaw, a collective of artists and bands from the Capital Region area who record music in the shared space of the same name.
This year’s Oakpaw lineup includes composer and violinist Connor Armbruster, alternative rock band Great Mutations (who just released their new single “Uh Oh”), indie rock artist Electric Turtle, plus Nathan Meltz & the House of Tomorrow, Pony in the Pancake, Rabid Children, & Architrave. All seven acts hail locally from the Capital Region and record their tracks at Troy’s Swordpaw studio.

Later this fall, Oakwood Community Center and Swordpaw will join forces once again for Rock the Pantry, which raises money for the Troy Food Pantry around Thanksgiving. More details on Rock the Pantry are coming soon.
Doors open for Oakpop at 2:00 p.m., with the music kicking off at 3 p.m. Food will be provided by Wizard Burger, and guest are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to best enjoy the outdoor show. Though there is no strict entrance fee, a donation of $10 is highly encouraged to help the community center continue bringing these beloved events to Troy.
