The Ashokan Center will host Ukrainian Community Day and Banjo Weekend this September and November.

On September 28, the Ukrainian Community Day will feature a joyful celebration of Ukrainian culture through live music, dance, food, craft vendors, hands-on workshops, and guided nature explorations.

The celebration will feature a diverse lineup of Ukrainian musical performances, dance, folk medicine plant walks, and artisan demonstrations. Visitors can enjoy food and browse Ukrainian craft vendors, connecting with the authenticity of Ukrainian traditions.

Standard tickets are priced at $20 while supporter tickets (including a donation toward Ashokan’s programs & scholarships) are $30. Attendees under five years old are free to attend. Half of all proceeds will be donated to the Ukrainian American Youth Association of the Hudson Valley (UAYA), supporting their ongoing efforts to aid children and hospitals in Ukraine.

The Ashokan Center will also feature Banjo Weekend from November 7-9.

A joyful gathering of banjo players and enthusiasts of all levels, this immersive weekend of workshops, concerts, and jams will be hosted at Ashokan’s 385-acre campus in the Catskill Mountains.

Banjo Weekend offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from some of today’s finest banjo instructors, with classes and performances that celebrate the instrument’s rich traditions regardless of clawhammer, bluegrass, tenor banjo, or banjo-uke passions. The weekend also includes evening jam sessions and a Friday night staff concert.
