Latest Single “The Hard Blues” from Spaghetti Eastern Music Released Ahead of Bethel Woods Debut

Spaghetti Eastern Music makes a return with a fresh single “The Hard Blues,” released on September 3, and is in preparation of their debut show at Bethel Woods at the Horizon Stage on September 10.

The Hard Blues

Through Spaghetti Eastern Music, Sal Cataldi explores and expands stripped down acoustics with bold vocal ballads, jazz-fueled electric guitar, and ambient soundscapes. The debut in 2016 with Sketches of Spam was followed by many EPs, singles, and several film and dance soundtracks.

“The Hard Blues” is filled with layers of hybrid instrumental sounds and production. It has a sort of psychedelic fusion that evokes a feeling of sonic wandering. Even without lyrics, the instrumentals create a meditative mood that makes you feel like walking through a quiet street in New Orleans with the projection from neon signs tinting the atmosphere. The title suggests struggle and hardship; however, the song evokes imagery of the opposite.

Cataldi stated, “”The Hard Blues” is my latest attempt to bring together genres that are close to my heart; the subtle, evolving textures of electronica and krautrock, big, bold trip-hop and tribal beats, and of course Chicago-styled electric blues with psychedelic flavorings.”

About his upcoming show at Bethel Woods, he stated, “To have the opportunity to play at such a hallowed venue, one where so many of my favorite guitarists have and continue to make history today, is a real thrill.”

The September 10 performance at Bethel Woods will mark the end of the free summer concert series in White Lake on their Horizon Stage. Spaghetti Eastern Music will also be performing at City Winery Hudson Valley September 17, and in a duet with guitarist Rick Warren September 20.
