The Louis Armstrong House Museum has announced the 2025 cohorts of the Armstrong Now Artist-in-Residence program.
The Louis Armstrong House Museum celebrates Louis Armstrong’s powerful legacy through guided tours of his historic home and preserves 60,000 pieces of archives in the state-of-the-art Armstrong Center. The museum has previously won the IMLS National Medal for Museums, the nation’s highest honor given to museums that demonstrate significant impact in their communities.

Trinidadian musician, composer, and storyteller Etienne Charles and choreographer, filmmaker, and educator Irishia Hubbard Romaine will research and collaborate with the museum to produce public performances dedicated to Louis’ enduring contributions to jazz and Black history. The residency provides veteran and emerging artists with the opportunity to create innovative, modern pieces of work through the vast collection and artifacts in the House’s Archives.
The museum will also unveil The Corona Collection. Offering an in-depth oral history on the legacies of the Corona and East Elmhurst neighborhoods, the collection will take a fresh perspective on Lucille and Louis Armstrong’s dedicated efforts towards these communities. The collection will run from Thursday, October 2, through March 2026.
Tickets to the museum and the Center can be found here.
