Forosoco. Is it a verb? Is it a noun? Nobody really knows for sure, but for Kevin and Michael Bacon, it is a way of life. The duo, aptly called The Bacon Brothers, use this term to describe their music.
On Sunday, July 27, Point of The Bluff Vineyards, in picturesque Hammondsport, hosted the brothers for an evening of forosoco.
The brothers have been perfecting their musical craft for nearly 30 years, and with hints of folk, rock, soul, and country they have their own unique sound. Using the first two letters of each of the styles, they now call the style forosoco.

With temps in the upper 80s and faint breeze, fans were filing into the pavilion style venue, with heightened anxiety. While Kevin might be known best for his acting roles, such as Footloose, music has been a high priority for the 18-time acting award winner. Joining forces with the elder Michael, who holds a Grammy for original composition, The Bacon Brothers hit the stage around 630 to an eloquent welcome. Getting right to work with “Let Me Happen to You Girl”, an upbeat jam about trying to get into a girl’s life, to help her get rid of or handle any fear or anxiety. To try and be a catalyst for a new outlook on life.
Put your devils on the run
Bring you back into the sun
Let me happen to you, girl
After playing a few songs dating back to 2018, the brothers rocked out to a new song from 2024s Ballad of Brothers. “Losing the Night”, a country rock style jam about solving relationship issues. The song had fans nearly silent, and vocals were belted out flawlessly, as the population took in the words and processed what the story they were hearing.
While both artists are amazing vocalists in their own right, each one takes turns being multi instrumentalists. Micheal goes from a guitar to a cello, to a lyre type harp. Each providing soothing sounds fitted perfectly for the song. Kevin starts the show playing congas and continues with guitar for a good portion of the evening, perfectly matching the vibe set forth.

Moving through the set, Keving talks about the band, and his brother playing alongside for all these and how they inspire each other in various ways. Recalling playing in Rochester with Bat McGrath, he commends the crowd for having such a rich musical history and encourages fans to go and experience all there is to offer.
As the set winds down, fans are treated to a diverse sound from the band with poppy tracks like “36 Cents” and “Ballad of The Brothers (The Willie Door)” to more up-beat songs like “Put Your Hands Up” closed out the main set. A song seemingly about how we all have a story to tell and its ok to share your struggles. The song is featured on the most recent album, Ballad of Brothers
Unlike another recent show I saw where the crowd was silent after main set, these fans are all on their feet, hooting and hollering for an extra serving of Bacon, which was graciously delivered. Finishing out the night, “Live With the Lie” had the standing crowd at attention, unaware of what remained.
Well known for an iconic 80s movie, Kevin treated the crowd to an impeccable rendition of Kenny Loggins “Footloose”. Not a sole was sitting down for this finale, as all the young at heart were up and moving. Dancing with loved ones, rocking back and forth, or just waving arms in the air, the mainly over 40 crowd was on cloud nine, as Keving and Michael took one final bow for the crowd.
