Welcome to the Neighborhood – M&T Bank Center Opens at Mohawk Harbor, Lee Brice to Perform in Sept

On the afternoon of Thursday, August 14, a crowd of local politicians and dignitaries joined the teams from Mohawk Harbor properties for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to open the new M&T Bank Center.

M&T Bank Center

Located along the Mohawk River in Schenectady, Mohawk Harbor is a $650 million mixed-use development featuring apartments, condos, three hotels, office space, hike/bike trails, an amphitheater, marina, restaurants, retail, and Rivers Casino & Resort, making M&T Bank Center a prime location as a venue for college athletics, concerts and other events for the public.

The $55 million, 97,178-square-foot multipurpose M&T Bank Center is the latest featured addition to Schenectady’s ongoing revitalization. The venue features a 2,200-seat hockey rink for Union College’s Division I hockey program that is expandable to 3,600 for concerts, conventions, trade shows and special events.

The first public event will feature country artist Lee Brice with special guest, and 2021 Schalmont High School graduate, David J on Saturday, September 6. David, who will be the first ever performer at the venue as the opening act, brings a touch of local music to the venue, a proper christening that hopefully leads to more local music at M&T Bank Center. Tickets for events are available at mandtbankcenter.com.

Gov. Hochul speaks at a press conference for the opening of M&T Bank Center in Schenectady.

Additionally, the Union College women’s hockey will debut at the center on Friday, Sept. 26, against Franklin Pierce. The men’s team takes the ice for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 4, against Army/West Point. For full schedules, visit unionathletics.com.
