X Ambassadors Drop VHS(X) and Tour for Album’s 10th Anniversary

A decade after dropping their breakout debut VHS, X Ambassadors are revisiting the record that put them on the map. The band will release VHS(X), a full re-recorded version of the 2015 album on August 29 with stops in NY for their North America tour.

VHS(X) will feature newly recorded versions of all 12 original tracks from VHS, including “Unsteady,” “Gorgeous,” and “Jungle.” The anniversary kicks off with “Renegades (Rerecorded),” a new version of the hit single that launched them into the spotlight.

“I didn’t think much of this song at first, I’ll be honest.” says front man Sam Nelson Harris, “But over the years as I’ve witnessed how much it’s meant to so many people, and the doors it opened for me and the band, it’s grown on me. It’s come to represent something scrappy and authentic about who I am and who we are as a band. Unconventional, in a world of our own, and uniquely us.”

X Ambassadors formed in Ithaca, with brothers Sam and Casey Harris writing music together as teens. After moving to Brooklyn, they teamed up with drummer Adam Levin. They released VHS, which went Platinum. The band then spent three years touring the world, fueled by hits like “Renegades” and “Unsteady.”

Since then, they’ve put out albums like Townie and The Beautiful Liar. They’ve also collaborated with major artists such as Lizzo, Eminem, and The Weeknd. If you haven’t heard their sound on the radio, you might’ve heard their songs appear in major films like Aquaman or Suicide Squad.

The VHS(X) Tour starts in September. It includes two hometown shows at Ithaca’s State Theatre on September 19 and 20, followed by a stop at Brooklyn Steel on September 23. The full tour schedule can be found on the band’s website.
